All Hannibal Cigars are 100% handmade from pure organic Havana seedleaf grown on a long forgotten lost mission plantation that was established under royal warrent by the Spanish Crown in the mid 16th Century. The king's ships travelled from Cuba and fanned out into the Carribean and into the southern Pacific Ocean. They established tobacco plantations with the seeds and cuttings that they had grown and established on Cuba. Their aim was to recreat and duplicate their success in Cuba. Consequently when they found the 'Lost Valley' which contained the same micro climate, soil make-up, temperature range and humidity, they realised that they had a perfect location to duplicate their success in growing the perfect tobacco of Cuba.
During the tubulant history of the region, the whole archeapellego became conquored by the Dutch, who converted all the old Spanish mission plantations that they found, into plantations that would produce the typical dry cured Dutch cigars known today. The Duch cigars are usually manufactured to be stored and packaged in tines and do not usually need to be kept ina humidfier. Consequently they cannot be compared with the Cuban style humidified cigar as far as taste, shape or structure.
The Hannibal 'Mission Escuba' plantation luckily was overlooked and never found by the Dutch, in its hidden valley jungle location, surrounded by jungle covered hills and mountains. The decendants of the orignal missioneries and villagers continued to grow and cultivate their prized havana seedleaf tobacco, aging and maturing the leaf in exactly the same manner as they were tought by their forefathers.
It is this tradition and and commitment to maintaining the Cuban quality of their tobacco and subsequent aging and maturing process, that appealed to the owners of Hannibal Cigars when they were introduced to this 'lost valley' in 1996 by one of the then current plantation representatives. After four days driving in a four wheel Jeep, through dripping rain forests. Where the humidity forced the Hannibal Expedition to change into four T-shirts within the first four hours of the journey, they finally came to a hill whichoverlooked a beautiful valley with well kept fileds of tobacco and little thatched whitewashed huts dominated by an old single storey mission house and tribal type long-house.
The tobacco drying sheds were all run and laid out according to the old Cuban traditional way, allowing the natural humid air to dry and mature the tobacco naturally. The whole place looked as though it had not changed one iota since the coming of theoriginal Spanish Missioneries over 500 years earlier. It was the difficult modern day journey through soaked jungles with no roads, fording through riverrs and streams with no bridges, that we likened the almost impossible trip of the warrior Hannibal who led his army and elephants over the snow covered Alps to beat the great Roman armies in their own country in the first century BC.
It is the ability of being able to dream the dreams of impossiblity and then making them happen, that we share with all our clients, customers and friends, who chose a Hannibal Cigar just because they like them!

The rich and smooth taste of a Hannibal cigar is constant irevelevent of the size, shape or packing. The only diffence is that the older and more aged the original tobacco prior to rolling the cigars, the richer and fuller the taste. Add to that the possibility of a further two to six years stored inside its own sealed mahogany box, and yu ahve the ultimate vintage cigar.
None of Hannibal Cigars go bitter on you. Theyt do not begin to give off a bitter taste as you smoke down thelength of the cigar. - This caused by using immature leaf which has not been left to mature for a long enough period. This causes the natural fermentation to become incomplete thus allowing the natural amonia within every leaf to remain instead of disapearing naturally as it should do if the tobacco is propperly cured. Of course this takes time and therefor money to achieve, so in a lot of instances it is not done byother companies in their rush toget the cigars to the public at a low price.
Once again, what good is a cheap product if it's no good for its pupose and does not give the promised pleasure?
For a great smoking experience, a cigar that can be smoked down tothe end of the roach clip without stinging your pallet with a bitter taste. A cigar that is smokable to the end. A cigar that is mellow and smooth yet has all the complexities of a true Havana but without the headiness to make your head 'float'. No aftertaste. -
